The DAS: Delivering Comprehensive Wireless Coverage Anywhere

No matter where you are, the DAS gives you coverage.

Distributed antenna systems (DAS) are crucial to facilitating wireless reception inside underground sites or buildings with structural elements that prevent or weaken the reception of radio frequency signals. Getting proper coverage inside of large buildings, basements, or tunnels is paramount to emergency safety teams. With a DAS installed, the signal is carried throughout the site via strategically placed, separated antenna nodes, and/or leaky cable.

Signals are brought into and out of the site without interruption thanks to a bi-directional amplifier (BDA) that amplifies the signal from within the structure (received through the DAS) out to the tower, and vice versa.

Mann Wireless’ design services cover broadband systems ranging from 100MHz to 5GHz. Our RF interference identification and resolution expertise allows us to create maximum coverage. We are adept at solving problems when RF signals get more complicated and congested within a site. Mann Wireless’ DAS Meets Requirements for Public Safety Wireless Network Program Legislation

Over the years, numerous states and counties have implemented ordinances requiring signal enhancement systems be in place in buildings that ensure reliable wireless reception for public safety. This is to address and prevent issues with wireless coverage for public safety professionals, such as police or fire and rescue units, within buildings that structurally prevent wireless communication. In certain jurisdictions, building owners are required to have certification that portable radios can work in the building in order to obtain occupancy permits.

Mann Wireless is fully equipped to provide design, construction, and installation to support this legislation, and is licensed to work in most jurisdictions. Our DAS antenna systems fall under the allowed technical solutions for in-building communication. (Also included are bi-directional amplifiers and leaky coax.)

Buildings that typically fall under the in-building ordinances are apartment buildings, municipalities, and larger buildings of a certain occupancy size.

This revolutionary system provides critical up-time reliability for your in-building signal enhancement system by automatically switching to a secondary donor tower in the event your primary donor tower fails. A typical in-building enhancement system both amplifies and distributes RF signals from external radio transmission sites to create stronger signals throughout the building. Without the DSDS, if your primary transmission tower is down, there is no backup to provide coverage. The DSDS seamlessly shifts coverage from your primary tower to a secondary tower. The lapse in coverage is solved, and the system will automatically shift back to the primary tower once the signal is restored.
